On the eve of every trip I take, without fail, my room becomes a fabric war zone. Every accessory I've ever purchased, sprawled out on my bed. A mountain of socks have over-taken my dresser (because some how I never manage to have the perfect matching pair).
I long for the contraption that Cher had in Clueless because it would make life easier, but there is something comforting about the chaos of packing for a trip. And I'm here to tell you, friends, that I'm not just going on any trip, I'm going on the trip. To the mecca of modern golf destination hot spots—Bandon Dunes.
As the site for the 125th U.S. Women's Amateur, the USGA has so generously invited me to the iconic eight course track to experience the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, but also bear witness to the top amateurs in the country.
It's four days of golf, golf, and more golf—and I couldn't be more thrilled. But when a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity such as this one falls in your lap, the real task begins: what on Earth do you pack?
I've checked the weather app a sufficient amount of times, meticulously combed through my wardrobe (I question if I'm in the early stages of being a hoarder), and I now come to you having expertly crafted the perfect outfit guide to tackle Bandon Dunes.

If no one has ever shared this essential step in the "what to wear when you travel" plan—your airport fit matters. No jeans, no shorts, and for the love of heaven, please do not under any circumstances have your bare feet out on the plane. All dogs must be in their proper storage.
Think layers, you never know when you need to pop the top or get a little extra coverage for random bursts of A/C. And go for an elevated casual look. Thicker sweat materials like terry are always a great cozy option. And neutrals are your friend. I personally love a good matching set, it's mindless and I know it looks put together. My go-to travel fit comes from Rhone.
The soft, buttery material sits so well on your skin. It's simple, yet chic and perfect for year-round travel.
I'm a sucker for a good mockneck. And when it's styled as a crew neck to layer with, it just looks more put together. Also the sandy, kind of off white color way is extremely versatile.

BUY NOWThe pants live up to their name. They are easily dreamiest, most comfortable elevated sweatpants I have and they are perfect for travel—especially to the cooler PNW temps.

BUY NOWI'm a fair-weather golfer. If it's not a perfect 70 degree day, sun hung high in the sky, little to no cloud coverage and a slight breeze...I don't want to play. But for Bandon, I'll make an exception.
The weather is hovering around the mid to high 60s, and we're golfing in the mornings so there's likely to be a slight chill in the air. Coverage and layers are important, and that said, I must confess—I hardly own golf pants. I despise them actually. I can never really find the right fit (until now), and it takes so much thought to build a look around pants. Skirts and dresses are much easier in my opinion.
For me it's important to keep things simple, tried and true. I've centered this look around my pants and shoes, going for a very classic silhouette with darling pair of kick-flare pants from A.PUTNAM and traditional looking shoe from adidas (sans the kiltie).
We're walking, so the key is to maximize comfort and mobility. I wanted an outfit that I knew could look good all day, have some stretch and breathability, and be simple enough where I can accessorize when needed.
The perfect lightweight long sleeve. It's mesh-like material makes it very breathable, but it adds just enough coverage to be a great base layer for those in-between temperatures.

BUY NOWMy absolute favorite golf pants to wear. You slip them on, no buttons or zippers necessary. They stretch and conform to your body. And the slightly flared bottom hemline adds a little pizzazz.

BUY NOWWhen it doubt, pack an all-white leather shoe. They'll go with anything, they're easy to clean if it gets a little damp, and these are just a clean looking profile. Very classic, effortless but with modern tech that designed for maximizing comfort. And for this marathon type of trip, my feet need the support.

BUY NOWI won't go anywhere without a pair of sunnies. These frames from Knockaround are my go-to. They go with anything, and the gold detailing elevates a look in the most subtle way. High quality glasses that won't break the bank—you can't be it.

BUY NOWPerhaps the most important outfit, and the one that's often forgotten is the non-golfing outfit on the golf trip.
Sure, my days will be filled with either playing golf or spectating, but we're also enjoying the amenities of Bandon Dunes and we're having dinners each night we're there. This is the most opportune time to break out those golfie, golf-adjacent pieces I've been harboring to throw a look.
That elevated Malbon piece you've been saving? Wear it. It's these real-life golf meets the real world applications I think we're all kind of itching for. A reason to bring a little bit of the links to your personal style and have some fun. Each piece I'm packing has a slightly lifestyle-leaning flair because I want options. I like when my clothes can function for me no matter the occasion.
I won't call it my 19th hole look, because it's more than that. It's the essence of me. Blending sport and fashion and having a bit of fun along the way.
The most darling zip up cardigan you'll ever see from a "golf" brand. Malbon Women have seriously elevated the knit game and this chunky, wide sleeve sweater is perfectly cropped, so she'll pair great with jeans and a fun little boot. (I have these silver western boots I wear religiously and would go oh so well with this).
