The PGA TOUR season concludes in East Lake with the final 30 players remaining, battling it out for the FedEx Cup. East Lake underwent a restoration before last year's edition and the set-up for this week is likely to be difficult. That was the olive branch to the best players in the world who will have to forego any starting strokes for this week.
There's no need to involve Scottie in this situation! Ludvig has knocking the cover off the ball, gaining +1.26 strokes per round in the ball-striking categories over his last 24 rounds. That's third most in this field behind only Scheffler and Hovland. He's earned (3) Top 10 finishes in his last four starts and has the skill-set (long and straight) to contend at East Lake.
Outside of a slow start in Memphis, Hovland has been dialed in during the playoffs. He's gained +2.0 strokes per round in his last seven rounds which helped him earn a T7 at Caves Valley last week. If Hovland can play out of the fairway, he's liable to beat everyone—but in this scenario we only need him to beat Ben Griffin.
This is a little hedge on Scheffler who will almost certainly be in contention last on Sunday. He's the best player in the world by a wide margin and he's been five shots better than anyone else in the first two playoff events.
Henley is a notoriously fast starter, picking up 1.70 strokes to the field in the opening round this year, per RickRunGood.com. That's the 5th best mark of anyone in this field. He's coming off a T15 finish last week where he faded on Sunday but has gained 8.51 strokes to the field in his last eight rounds at East Lake.
Burns needs to big finish this week to keep his name in the mix for the Ryder Cup—he finished 16th in the USA Standings and will require a Captains Selection. He's getting hot at the right time with an impressive T4 finish last week, Burns will need to ride his hot putter to make some noise in Atlanta.
